How to Help Haiti

January 17th, 2010

At Peace with Christ our hearts are heavy after hearing the news of the devastation coming from Haiti after the strongest earthquake in more then 200 years. The quake measured 7.2 on the Richter scale, and was centered 10 miles from Port-au-Prince, the nation’s largest city. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere where the average citizen earns $2 per day.

Many Peach with Christ members have asked how they can help. After our service today, there was a special offering in the front hall that we will share between the American Red Cross and Compassion International. Both of these organizations are using special funds immediately to provide assistance to children and families affected by this crisis.

Finally, we ask that you keep the families, government, missionaries, organizations and relief workers in your prayers and offer your financial support through any of the following organizations. There will be many difficult days ahead for Haiti and we ask for His peach to surround this country and its purpose.

LCMS World Relief and Human Care
Samaritan’s Purse
The Hands and Feet Project
World Vision
World Concern
Lutheran World Relief
ELCA Disaster Response
Food for the Hungry
